YOUR DETAILS, KEPT SIMPLE
Privacy & cookies.
We use your details to handle your enquiry or order. PayPal handles payment details.
My Crate and wantlists.
My Crate stores stock references in this browser’s local storage. It does not reserve items or require an account. Offline links can also carry these references between local pages. On a shared shop screen, the selection is shared. Remove saved items from My Crate to clear them.
Wantlist requests store your name, email and requested titles or details in our private staff inbox. We use them only to respond about your request. Our configured Resend email service sends the notification to us. Contact us to withdraw or delete a request. We keep open requests until resolved or withdrawn and review unresolved requests after 12 months; this review is manual. This is not a marketing subscription.
Selling a collection.
The collection enquiry form records your name, email, location and the collection details you provide so we can assess what you have and reply. Enquiries are kept in our private staff inbox. When email delivery is configured, we use Resend to send an enquiry notification to our shop email address; the email provider processes those details to deliver the message. The form is not a mailing-list subscription.
In local test mode, enquiries stay in the local staff inbox and no email is sent. The UK telephone option uses your own confirmation that you are in the UK; we do not use GPS or an IP-based location lookup.
Currency estimates.
Our server obtains public reference exchange rates from the European Central Bank. We do not send your contact details, basket or browser location to the rate provider. Local-currency prices are estimates; orders are charged in GBP and your payment provider sets any conversion rate and fees.
Who is responsible?
Boomshanka Records is responsible for the customer information used by this shop website. Contact stephen@boomshankarecords.co.uk, Facebook Messenger, or write to Boomshanka Records, Wellington Market, 21 Market Street, Wellington, Telford, TF1 1DT.
What we collect.
You can browse without giving us your name or email. When you use checkout or place an order, we record your name, email, chosen items, prices and order reference. For delivery we also need your postal address. We retain payment status and, for online payments, PayPal transaction references to confirm purchases and handle refunds. For cash collection we store the unpaid reservation and staff confirmation when cash is received; cash orders do not send payment details to PayPal.
We do not receive or store your full card number, security code or PayPal password. PayPal processes those details. If you email or message us through Facebook Messenger, we use the information you choose to provide to answer your enquiry. Messenger may also show us your profile name and the conversation you send.
Website requests can also expose technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to our hosting provider. The checkout uses short-lived request counts to protect the service; the website has no advertising trackers or audience analytics installed.
Why we use it.
- To answer enquiries, prepare quotes, take and fulfil orders, email order confirmations and collection or dispatch updates, record tracking numbers, arrange collection or delivery, and handle returns: steps before entering a contract or carrying out our contract with you.
- To maintain records required by accounting or other applicable laws: legal obligations.
- To protect checkout, prevent misuse and resolve disputes: our legitimate interests in running a secure shop and protecting customers.
We do not sell your details or use your order email address for marketing in this website. There is no automated decision-making about you beyond ordinary payment and security checks; PayPal operates its own payment checks.
Who receives information?
Authorised shop staff can access enquiries and orders. Hosting and email providers process the information needed to run those services. PayPal receives order and payment information and, for a delivery payment, the address supplied for the order. Royal Mail and delivery partners receive the details needed to deliver your parcel.
If you choose Facebook or Messenger, those services are operated by Meta under their own privacy and cookie policies. We have added links only, with no embedded Facebook or Messenger widget. These providers may process information outside the UK under their own applicable terms and safeguards. PayPal is a separate controller for its payment services: see PayPal’s privacy statement.
Cookies and browser storage.
This website uses essential storage for functions you request. We have not added advertising or analytics cookies.
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout session cookie | Connects you to your quote, checkout and payment status; also protects staff sign-in. | Expires after 24 hours. |
| Basket storage in your browser | Remembers the stock references you put in your basket; contains no payment details. | Until you remove the items, complete payment or clear browser storage. |
| Currency preference and saved reference rates | Remembers your chosen display currency and the last available exchange rates on this browser. A suggestion uses your browser language/region settings, without GPS or IP-based location lookup. | Until you clear browser storage. |
| Quote and order references in browser session storage | Lets you return to a quote or check payment status in the same browser. | Until cleared by the website or the browser session ends. |
When you choose to continue to PayPal, its payment software may use cookies or similar technology under PayPal’s own policies. The Google map on our contact page is not loaded automatically: choosing “Load map” connects to Google, which may use its own cookies and receive your IP address. You can use the written address without loading the map.
You can clear the basket here or manage cookies and storage in your browser. Blocking essential storage may stop checkout or quote recovery working.
How long we keep information.
We keep enquiry and quote information while needed to answer you, arrange a purchase or resolve related questions. Order and payment records are retained while needed for fulfilment, returns, disputes and applicable accounting or legal obligations. The period depends on the record and any unresolved issue; we review those needs and delete or anonymise records when those purposes no longer apply. Contact us to ask about the records held for your order.
The checkout cookie expires after 24 hours. Contact entries on the checkout screen clear after three minutes of inactivity; this does not delete an order or quote already sent to the shop.
Your choices and rights.
You can ask to see or correct your information, and where applicable ask for deletion, restricted use, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve a dispute. Contact us using the details above; we may ask for enough information to verify your request.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
